Harold “Burke” Landon, 85, lifelong resident of Tangier Island, VA, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all, passed away at home Thursday, January 14, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. Born January 3, 1936 on Tangier, he was one of nine children born to the late Charles Colson “Charlie” Landon and Nona Parks Landon.

Burke lived a full life, one that revolved around his faith in the Lord, spending time with family, and working the waters of the Chesapeake Bay aboard the “Bonnie Ruth.” As a devoted member of the New Testament Church, he shared God’s work through helping those in need, always without the expectation of acknowledgment or praise. Those who had the pleasure to know Burke, knew a humble man with genuine kindness and a beautiful heart.

Burke is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Bonnie Laird Landon; their children, Harold “Burke” Landon, Jr. and his wife Kimberly White-Landon of Wattsville, VA, Adam Shawn Landon and his wife, Laura, and Richard Bryan Landon, all of Tangier; brothers, Stanley Landon and his wife, Margaret Ann, of Onley, VA and Edward Landon and his wife, Maxine, of Smith Island, MD; grandchildren, Melissa (Tony) Bernal, Caleb Landon, Bobby Shores, William White, Billy Landon, Selena Cathell, Tabitha Cathell, and Megan (Ryan) Moltedo; great grandson, Ryan Bernal; and several nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, Burke was predeceased by three sisters, Lucille (Cecil) Chambers and Ruth and Elsie Landon and three brothers, Ross (Nellie) Landon, Bates (Ricky) Landon, and Charles (Henrietta) Landon.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the New Testament Church Cemetery on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 1:30 p.m., with Elder Duane Crockett officiating. In light of the ongoing pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required for all who attend the service.
