Verizon to make area code mandatory on Friday April 9

Beginning April 9, callers will have to dial the area code even when calling locally.   The new overlay will add another code to the 757 area of southeast Virginia in September.  From that point, all new phone numbers will have 948 as their area code.  As of Friday April 9, callers who do not use 757 along with the 7 digit regular number will not be connected.tart
