Seafood truck goes overboard at Smith Beach

An Ocean Cove seafood delivery truck went down the Smith Beach boat ramp and into The Gulf Wednesday morning.

The calls to emergency personnel went out around 11:00 AM. According to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, the truck was backed down the ramp loading aquaculture when it kicked into gear and rolled down the ramp. Local good Samaritans attempted to pull the truck out of the water unsuccessfully. No one was injured in the accident. 

The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office dispatched divers at the scene to secure chains to the truck and Moore’s Towing was able to pull the truck out of the Gulf.
