Sylvia Dean Ayers of Parksley

Sylvia Dean Ayres, 79, of Parksley, wife of the late Herman Wilson Ayres, Sr., passed away on April 29, 2022 at her residence.

Born on August 16, 1942 in Nassawadox, she was the daughter of the late Charles “Scottie” Scott and Beatrice Williams Scott. One of five children, she was called “Tib” by her siblings. Sylvia worked for over 30 years at Perdue. Having family from Tangier, she absolutely loved visiting friends and family there. She would even sneak off without letting her family know! Her family was especially important to her and she delighted in taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sylvia is survived by two sons, Herman “HW” Wilson Ayres, Jr. of Parksley and Charles N. “Chuck” Ayres (Krysten) of Parksley; sisters, Cora Sue Campbell (Jimmy) of Exmore, Vicky Thornes (Bobby) of Parksley, and Debbie Russell (Allen) of Parksley; a brother, Newman Scott (Sharon) of Onancock; grandchildren, Joseph Ayres (Christine Remington) of Parksley and Cody Ayres of Parksley; great-grandchild, Raven Ayres; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
