The National Weather Service in Wakefield is predicting 2-3 more inches of snow for Accomack County and 3-4 more for Northampton in Friday’s updated forecast.

A Winter Storm warning is in effect for Accomack and Northampton County until 10:00 AM Saturday morning, with potentially heavy snowfall possible after 4:00 PM this afternoon. The NWS predicts the most likely time for snow fall to begin for the Shore will be around 7:00 PM tonight, continuing through 4:00 AM Saturday.

Winds will also be heavy, gusting as high as 30 to 40 mph.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Hazardous conditions would impact tonight’s and tomorrow morning’s commute, in addition to the snow fall from Thursday night.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Also, ensure you have a full tank of gas, and travel slowly.
