Mr. Hatton Widgen Phillips, 87, of Salisbury, MD, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at BayCare Assisted Living in Salisbury, MD. Born January 21, 1935 in Melfa, VA, he was the son of the late Harry Hatton Phillips and Betty Bell Widgen Phillips of Nassawadox, VA.

Following graduation from Onancock High School, class of 1954, Hatton enrolled at The College of William & Mary. After one semester at W&M, Hatton decided college wasn’t for him and completed a floral design class in Miami, FL. It wasn’t until he began working for Dulany Foods Corporation, in Exmore, VA, that he found his niche. Hatton quickly moved up the ladder and once the Exmore plant closed he transferred to their Fruitland, MD facility, where he worked as a quality control supervisor until their closing in the late 60’s. He then continued his career with Campbell Soup Company in Salisbury, until the plant closed their doors in 1993. Over the next decade, Hatton worked as the housekeeping supervisor for the Princess Royale Resort in Ocean City, MD. He was a former longtime member of the Salisbury Elks Lodge #817.

Hatton is survived by his son, Howard Hatton Phillips and his wife, Tara, of Parsonsburg; brother, Jerry Phillips and his wife, Donna, of Silver Beach, VA; grandchildren, Keith Howard Phillips, Cole Raffaelle Phillips; and niece, Kristina Phillips of Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Mount Holly Cemetery on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., with The Reverend John Robinson officiating.
