Mary Rose Ward of Parksley

Mary Rose Ward, 81, of Parksley, wife of the late Leon Price Ward, passed away on April 28, 2022 at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley.

Born on August 29, 1940 in Nassawadox, she was the daughter of the late Harold Hobson Knight and Sally Martin Knight Morris. Mary worked for many years at Meatland in Onley and later at the Hermitage. She enjoyed her cats and dogs, visiting friends and cooking. At Christmas, she would often start preparing a week in advance in order to host her whole family.

Mary is survived by her beloved son, Chris Ward and wife, Marcy of Onancock; grandchildren, April Woods (Jaime) and Heather Powers (EJ); great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Woods and Keagan Powers; special cousins, Joyce Linton, Barry and Linda Linton, Ellen and Freddie Linton and Mike Watson.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the Thornton Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Onancock.
