A Storm system is expected to move through Friday evening into early Saturday bringing rain chances, gusty winds, and coastal flooding to the area. Not expecting as much rainfall with Friday’s storm system, though some nuisance flooding will still be possible due to the saturated ground.

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Wind Advisory in effect beginning Friday at 7:00 PM until 4:00 AM Saturday morning.

Current forecasts predict southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could blow down and some power outages could occur.

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Minor coastal flooding is expected, mainly on the bayside of Accomack County.

High pressure builds in for the weekend before another potential storm system pushes through on Tuesday. Quite a bit of uncertainty remains for this system, though snow may be possible across portions of the area. However, confidence on exact details is currently low.
