Indictments for abduction, sodomy, wounding and theft brought in Northampton

More than a dozen people were indicted Monday by a Northampton Grand Jury for crimes that included abduction, sodomy, wounding, and theft.

Forty-four-year-old Earl Raymond Elder, of Treherneville Drive in Birdsnest, was indicted on a count of abduction by force on May 25. Lenette Victory told authorities that the two were driving across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel when they began to fight inside Elder’s car. Victory said she asked him several times to let her out. But he wouldn’t. She told police she tried to escape several times and each time he would speed up the car making it dangerous for her to escape. She was later dropped off about 16 miles from her home.

Forty-one-year-old Adam Ashby, of Exmore, was indicted on a count of attempting to maliciously wound a neighbor with his car on June 14. The neighbor told police she was walking along the road when Ashby started driving towards her. She said he swerved just before hitting her. Court records state there was previous hostility between the two.

Forty-two-year-old Pierce Scanlan, of Exmore, was indicted on counts of assaulting Deputy Jacob Foisey and of being a felon and carrying a weapon on June 23.

Thirty-six-year-old Kenneth Joseph DeFazio, of Rochester, N.Y., was indicted on a count of forcible sodomy of a child who was 13 years old or younger between July 31 and Aug. 1, 2020.

Fifty-eight-year-old Gary Lenard Bailey, of James Allen Drive in Machipongo, was indicted on a count of obtaining money by false pretense belonging to Geico with the intent to defraud on Dec. 22, 2021. Bailey was arrested on March 30, 2023. According to court records, he accepted nearly $2,400 from the insurance company for damages to his vehicle that occurred before he obtained the insurance.

Sixty-seven-year-old William T. Morris, of Seaside Road in Eastville, was indicted on a count of intentionally damaging a sliding glass door valued at more than $1,000 that belonged to Abraham and Jeanette Robinson, of Eastville, on April 20.

Thirty-six-year-old Reneka Lashira Thomas, of Occohannock Neck Road in Exmore, was indicted on a count of embezzling more than $1,000 worth of lottery tickets from Shore Stop between May 18 and 20.

Thirty-one-year-old Camron O’Brian Grevious, of Denison Avenue in Norfolk, was indicted on counts of possessing Meth and Fentanyl on Dec. 3, 2021.

Fifty-one-year-old Milton Rafael Hall III, of Philadelphia, was indicted on three counts of forging bank notes and two counts of conspiracy to forge bank notes on March 11, 2021.

Sixty-two-year-old Melvin Andrew Benton Jr., of Woodcock Circle in Cape Charles, was indicted on counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, selling cocaine, possession of a firearm by a felon, and knowingly receiving a stolen firearm. The incidents occurred on Dec. 9, 2022, and involved 14 grams of crack.

Twenty-four-year-old Javon Lee Thomas, of Lankford Highway in Nassawadox, was indicted on counts of burglary, stealing nine cartons of Newport cigarettes and $299 belonging to B &B Convenience Store, possession of burglary tools with intent to commit burglary, and damaging the store’s glass door. The crimes occurred on April 28.

Forty-year-old Muhammad Luqman Kaleem of Brimfield Road in Norristown, Pa., was indicted on a count of eluding police on May 18.
