The combination of low relative humidity levels of 30 to 35 percent, and strong, breezy west winds gusting to 25 to 35 mph, will result in elevated fire danger conditions Thursday afternoon across the Eastern Shore and Virginia Beach.
Virginia residents are reminded that outdoor burning is prohibited before 4 pm each day through April 30th, and any outdoor burning is strongly discouraged all day on Thursday. Exercise caution handling any potential ignition source including machinery, cigarettes and matches. Be sure to properly discard all smoking materials. Any dry grasses and tree litter that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly.
