Dead Whale

Another dead whale has been reported Saturday morning, this time off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.

The whale washed ashore at 25th street in Virginia Beach Sunday morning. According to our partners at WTKR, the Virginia Aquarium, who handles removal of beached whales, is assessing situation. The team relocated the whale out of the shorebreak and onto the beach where it was monitored overnight. The Virginia Aquarium says the team plans to return Monday to further assess and conduct an examination of the mammal.

There have been several reports of dead whales around the Hampton Roads region and the Eastern Shore over the past few years.
