SHORE PERSPECTIVES: As Covid-19 restrictions are minimized, local parents organize Warrior Gala

When pandemic lockdowns began last spring, high school students in the class of 2020 realized pretty quickly that they’d be missing their proms and graduation would be a bit different from the pomp and ceremony of years past. But few teens could have imagined that their lives would still be so limited by the pandemic a year later. There are many milestones in a teenager’s life. But, proms and graduation ceremonies were disrupted or canceled because of COVID-19, communities have learned to adapt. This week, Kelley visited with Jessica Bernard as she shared what a group of Nandua High School parents are organizing in the absence of a school-sanctioned prom by creating the Warrior Gala to ensure their children have some semblance of normalcy and the ability to socialize with their peers in a fun environment:
