VDOT Reports 13 is Clear; Back Roads Still Have Ice Patches

According to Paula Miller with VDOT, all roads on the Eastern Shore are passable. Primary roads are clear, but with some icy patches and areas of small drifts due to blowing snow. Crews this morning are starting to work on secondary roads that are icy and snow covered. VDOT estimates Northampton Co. received 3 inches of snow and Accomack Co. received 2 inches of snow. NEWPORT NEWS, Va.   – Riverside Health System has released its 2017 Cancer Care Annual Report, offering insight into regional cancer statistics, the latest in new treatment innovations and support programs available locally, and highlights of patient success stories. According to the report, which compiled data from 2016, a total of 2,688 patients were diagnosed or received initial cancer care in a Riverside facility, a slight increase from the 2,639 patients seen in 2015. VDOT’s Focus Is On Treating Roadways As Temperatures Continue To Drop

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is advising motorists to use extreme caution while traveling during their afternoon commute and through the evening hours as temperatures drop below freezing. VDOT has spent most of the afternoon treating interstates and roadways with salt and abrasives, as warm pavement temperatures turned snow to slush.   Motorists should slow their speeds, stay 100 feet back from VDOT equipment that is continuing to work roadways and allow plenty of braking distance.
