Two local Eastern Shore dining destinations—Bill’s Prime Seafood & Steaks and The Harbor’s End Seafood Restaurant—will be featured this April on America’s Best Restaurants (ABR), a national media company that showcases standout, independently owned eateries across the country.

Filming is set for Thursday, April 17, 2025, with Bill’s Prime Seafood & Steaks in Chincoteague being filmed from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by The Harbor’s End in Greenbackville from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Both segments will spotlight each restaurant’s signature dishes and include on-camera interviews with the owners, highlighting their stories and the restaurants’ impact on the local community. Press is invited to attend both sessions.

ABR selected both restaurants for their community involvement, strong customer reviews, unique menus, and loyal followings.

Bill’s Prime Seafood & Steaks: A Chincoteague Classic Since 1960

Bill’s Prime Seafood & Steaks, a Chincoteague institution originally opened by Bill and Virginia Clark in 1960, continues its legacy under current owners Kevin Krome and Steve Potts, who have run the restaurant for nearly three decades.

The restaurant was nominated multiple times for the ABR feature, including by loyal customer Bunnie Riedel, who wrote: “Always fresh seafood cooked to perfection. Great sides available; friendly service.” Another longtime patron, Mary Johnson, praised the restaurant’s food and festive holiday decorations, calling it “the best food on the East Coast.”

Serving brunch, lunch, and dinner, Bill’s is known for upscale coastal décor and a menu that includes crab cakes, prime rib, New England clam chowder, and a popular crab dip appetizer served with a pretzel baguette. Homemade desserts and a full bar round out the offerings.

Bill’s Prime Seafood & Steaks is located at 4040 Main Street in Chincoteague and is open Thursday through Monday. Visit www.billsprime.com or call (757) 336-5831 for more information.

The Harbor’s End: A From-Scratch Seafood Favorite with Deep Community Roots

Located on the shores of Chincoteague Bay, Harbor’s End is owned by husband-and-wife team Stephanie and Deitrick Downing, who opened the restaurant two years ago. The building was donated by its previous owner to the local volunteer fire department, which cleaned and remodeled the space before turning the lease over to the Downings.

The restaurant offers a from-scratch menu featuring local ingredients, served in a bright, waterfront dining space. The Harbor’s End is active in the community, regularly sponsoring local events and donating to youth-focused causes.

“We try to help any way we can,” said Stephanie. “Especially if it helps out kids. Our children are the youth of our future, and they deserve the best opportunities out there.”

Popular menu items likely to be featured in the episode include smoked-in-house ribs, a clam fritter sandwich, crab cakes made from a family recipe, and smothered crab fries—boardwalk-style fries topped with crab dip and cheese. The restaurant’s homemade blueberry pie with a sugar cookie crust is also a fan favorite.

Harbor’s End is located at 2118 Harbor Drive in Greenbackville and is open Wednesday through Sunday. For more information, visit “The Harbor’s End Restaurant” on Facebook or call (757) 990-4200.
