Whether you’re passionate about science or just curious, science fairs can open doors to learning and growth in ways we might not expect. Science fairs encourage our young people to ask questions, explore problems and develop solutions. They teach the importance of observation, analysis and scientific reasoning. Students get a chance to think outside the box and experiment with original ideas.
The goal of a science fair is to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity while giving participants a chance to share their discoveries and innovations with an audience. It’s like a celebration of science and learning.
Saturday, April 5, the 2025 Eastern Shore Regional Science Fair was held at VIMS in Wachapreague with the top projects from local public, private and home schools represented. Kelley visited with some of the students as they enthusiastically shared their projects and findings.
The Eastern Shore Regional Science Fair would like to express their gratitude to the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Wachapreague, Chincoteague Bay Field Station, UVA LTER Lab in Oyster, The Nature Conservancy and all other organizations involved for their contributions to the success of the event. Special thanks to C.D. Marsh Jewelers in Onancock for providing trophies. Most of all, greatest appreciation is extended to all the students, their families and the community for supporting this year’s science fair.
