According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, on May 23rd at approximately 11:00 P.M., the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Livingston Police Department in New Jersey regarding a vehicle occupied by a suicidal subject that was being tracked and found to be traveling south on Route 13. The sheriff’s office issued a B.O.L. to surrounding police agencies and the vehicle of interest was located by Parksley Police along Route 13 in Parksley, Virginia resulting in a multiple agency vehicle pursuit in Accomack & Northampton Counties to include Accomack County Sheriff’s Office, Parksley Police Department, Virginia State Police Department and the CBBT Police Department. The vehicle was stopped following the deployment of spike strips at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and the driver was detained. An emergency custody order was issued and the suspect was transported to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital where she is currently undergoing medical treatment.

The suspect was identified as Maria Dunne, age 54 of New Jersey who is charged with Felony Eluding and additional charges are pending.

Sheriff Godwin stated that the investigation is continuing.
