
According to Sheriff W. Todd Wessells, on September 22, 2025, at approximately 4:42 a.m., the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired in the Staunton Avenue area of Parksley.
Deputies responded to the scene and discovered a residence, occupied by two individuals, had been struck. An observable bullet hole was located at the home.
As part of the investigation, on October 2, 2025, deputies executed a residential search warrant in the 21000 block of Cardinal Acres Drive in Parksley. During the search, multiple firearms were recovered.
As a result, warrants were obtained for Cayden Allen Smith, 19, of Parksley, Virginia, charging
him with:
- Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling
- Shooting from a Vehicle to Endanger Persons
- Possession of a “Sawed Off” Shotgun or Rifle
Smith is currently incarcerated at the Accomack County Jail, with bond denied.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Parksley Police Department.
