According to Sheriff Todd E. Godwin, on March 27, 2019, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received information that a teacher at Nandua High School was in possession of a firearm on school property.
An investigation into this incident led to the recovery of firearms from substitute teacher, Phillip Gordon Stewart. An arrest warrant was obtained on Phillip G. Stewart, 63, of Locustville, Virginia for Possession of a Firearm on School Property.
Mr. Stewart was being held at the Accomack County Jail with bond denied but was subsequently released on a $2,500 secured bond on March 29,2019.
The Onley Police Department assisted in the investigation.
