Students at Kiptopeke Elementary got a surprise welcome back to school this week, as Amazon awarded the school a $4,000 check as part of its “Together We Give” Campaign.
Local business owner and photographer, Gordon Campbell, who operates the At Altitude Gallery on Mason Avenue in Cape Charles, nominated the school for the Amazon campaign.
“When I got the email from Amazon, I immediately thought of Kiptopeke,” King said. “This is one of the most beautiful areas on the East Coast, and you all are lucky to grow up here. I wanted to recognize these students and this school because you truly deserve it.”
Amazon representative Jane France attended the event and shared how the program allows local partners to nominate schools to receive back-to-school supplies. While schools elsewhere in the region received 60 backpacks each, Kiptopeke was awarded an even larger donation.
“This is part of Amazon’s commitment to supporting the communities where we deliver,” Frantz said. “We’re proud to bring this gift to Kiptopeke Elementary.”
Included in attendance for the celebration were Northampton County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Martin and School Board Chair Liz Jones.
