The Eastern Shore Habitat for Humanity released the following statement regarding the 25th Annual Freezin’ for a Reason event:

“The Eastern Shore Habitat for Humanity Board and Habitat Homeowners, we would like to thank you for supporting the Annual Eastern Shore Habitat “Freezin’ for a Reason” and making this the best ever! Together we were able to raise $35,701! You, the Eastern Shore community joined forces once again and made “Freezin for a Reason” a huge success! Celebrity Dippers Robie Marsh and Evelyn Shotwell did a tremendous job of leading the charge and gaining community support. There were 96 dippers and 6 teams to participate in this year’s event. Sherriff Doughty and the Northampton County Sherriff’s Department won the top adult team category. While Richard Davis and Team Lipman finished closely on the heels of the Sherriff’s Department. The top Youth Team went to Northampton High School. Top individual Dippers were Tommy Gallichio first place, Trent Ferebee second place, and Jay Kellam third place. The support from the Eastern Shore community is integral for us to continue to fulfill our mission to build houses for those in need on the Eastern Shore. We thank you for helping us improve the lives of others on the Eastern Shore.

We have received a record breaking 160 applications this year from individuals and families asking to be selected for houses. Thanks to your efforts along with other successful fundraising efforts throughout the year, our Habitat selection committee will be able to choose two applicants to receive houses this year. As always, please feel free to contact the Eastern Shore Habitat Office if you would like to get involved in future Habitat work groups or fundraising. We would love to hear from you by phone (442-4687) or e-mail ( – office).”
