A&N Electric Cooperative (ANEC) is preparing to respond to any issues associated with a Nor’easter.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area. Current forecasts are calling for high winds tonight and periods of wet snow tomorrow afternoon. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving.

Short power interruptions, referred to as “blinks,” can be common during storms such as this. A small number of blinks can be the distribution system attempting to fix an issue to avoid a total power outage. However, frequent or a prolonged series of blinks could indicate an issue that the Cooperative needs to address. If you experience this issue please notify us by SmartHub app or by phone and explain the problem.

Members are reminded to:

  • Stay away from downed wires or damaged electric equipment. Touching energized wires can lead to injuries and death. If you see downed wires, call 911 or the Cooperative at 757-787-9750 immediately.
  • If you use a generator, never run it inside your home or garage. Some produce carbon monoxide fumes, which can be deadly.
  • To report an outage, please use our SmartHub app or call 800-431-2632. Please report outages using these two methods and not on social media.
