Individuals and businesses that stockpile old tires in Accomack County should start finding a way to clean them up.

At the October 16 meeting of the Accomack County Board of Supervisors,  Supervisor Paul Muhly asked if the county could adopt an ordinance to control these sites.

At Wednesday’s meeting County Administrator Mike Mason said that the State of Virginia already has a law that limits the number of waste tires to be stored on any property to 100.

The Board will consider whether it will ask the Sheriff’s Department to enforce the state ordinance.
