The proposed FY19 Accomack County Budget includes a funding proposals to help the County become a more “Business Resilient” County. County Administrator Mike Mason defined business resiliency as planning for, managing and recovering from business disruptions whether natural or man made. The plan would help ensure that county services would be available during the greatest time of citizen need.

The budget includes $547,000 for an addition to the Fire Training Center that will serve as a new Emergency Operations Center. The current EOC is a room at the 911 center which is often crowded and too small to handle the number of people who work there during emergencies. The new EOC center would include a more spacious facility which would include a kitchen and a shower for multi day events.

The addition would also contain space for the Accomack County Administration to work in the event the Administration building in Accomack became unusable.
