Accomack County and the Town of Onancock have reached an agreement on a dispute regarding approximately $89,000 the county was overcharged for the use of the Onancock Sewage System. The problem occurred when a defective meter was discovered that resulted in the County being charged more than it should have for the service.
The County and Onancock agreed to split the difference since it is not possible to determine the exact amount of sewage that was actually processed by the Town. Accomack will receive a $47,000 credit from the Town. It will be used to pay the county’s monthly sewage bill until the credit is paid off.
A new meter has been installed to insure that future flow is accurately measured.
