Supervisor Oliver Bennett, on behalf of the Northampton County teachers, of which he is one, presented a letter to the Northampton County Board of Supervisors Tuesday night expressing concern over the curriculums currently being used by the school system.

The letter said the teachers were unhappy that Northampton County was using a curriculum that was purchased from Hampton City Schools, and the teachers felt they should be creating the curriculum taught locally.

“This curriculum is insufficient for many of the students of Northampton County,” the letter read.

The letter stated the school system purchased the curriculum for $20,000 and that $250,000 had been spent on accompanying subscriptions. It further it was developed by Hampton City teachers, who receive a ‘dividend’ for each time they sell it to a different school system.
