Mrs. Sharon Taylor Kilmon, 67, wife of Ronnie Gene Kilmon and a resident of Bloxom, VA, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025. Born January 21, 1958 in Guilford, VA, she was the daughter of the late Noah Robert Taylor, Sr. and Annie Elizabeth Killmon Taylor.
For many years, Sharon was a warm and welcoming presence in the cafeteria at Metompkin Elementary, where children eagerly looked forward to seeing her smile each day. She cherished her time with the students and especially enjoyed working alongside her sister. Known for her generous spirit, Sharon often surprised her favorite students with birthday and Christmas gifts, and she always made sure every child could enjoy ice cream – even if she had to cover the cost herself. She also loved the holidays and never missed the chance to dress up in costume just to bring a smile to the kids faces. At home, family was her greatest joy, and she was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Though she and Ronnie had known each other since grade school, their love story began more than 30 years ago with a first date on his birthday. From that moment, they shared countless memories together, including trips to Ocean City, MD, where they loved strolling the boardwalk and watching the waves roll in on the beach. Sharon also looked forward to visits with family in Pennsylvania and was a proud, lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, never missing the chance to cheer, “Go Eagles Go!” on game day.
In addition to her loving husband, Ronnie, she is survived by her daughters, Gay Savage of Bloxom and Bianca Calderon of Georgia; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Savage and Caleb Custis; great-grandsons, Aiden and Sylas; her granddog, Stella; sister, Dawn Taylor (Randy Miller) of Hopeton, VA, brothers, Robert “Frankie” Taylor (Maureen) of Pennsylvania, Ronald Wayne Taylor of Virgina Beach, VA, and Tony Taylor of Bloxom; sister-in-law, Tracy Wessells Fate; brother-in-law, George Applegate; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Brenda Taylor Applegate and Valerie Taylor Baumgardner and brother, Noah “Robbie” Taylor, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Danny Shrieves officiating. There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
