
In a game heard live on 103.3 FM WESR, a strong second half propelled Nandua to a 31-0 Homecoming victory over Isle of Wight Academy Friday night. Freshman quarterback Ben Boniwell scored the lone first-half touchdown on a two-yard keeper.
The second half was all Nandua. Brothers Juelz and Jordan Snead broke loose for touchdown runs of 63 and 37 yards, respectively, while Nazere Blake added a 22-yard score. Junior Louiz Martino capped off the night with a 38-yard field goal to round out the scoring.
Blake finished with 21 carries for 194 yards and one touchdown. Jordan Snead added 11 rushes for 90 yards and a score, while Juelz Snead carried six times for 49 yards and one touchdown. The Warriors totaled 342 rushing yards on the night.
Nandua improves to 2-4 on the season and will host Colonel Richardson on Friday, October 17, at 6:00 p.m.
In other Eastern Shore action Brunswick defeated Chincoteague 53 to 8 Friday night. The Ponies are now 4-3 on the season and they return to action next Friday night at Southampton Academy.
Washington defeated Arcadia 36 to 16 Friday evening. The Firebirds fall to 2-5 on the season and will have a bye next week.
Northampton had a bye week.
Today at 2:00 PM, Broadwater Academy will host Randolph-Macon Academy for their Homecoming match up. They will honor the 2000 State Championship football team at halftime for the 25 year anniversary of the title and also inducted 5 members into their newly formed Athletic Hall of Fame.
