A hands-on, interactive, and immersive “museum on wheels,” the VA250 Mobile Museum Experience titled Out of Many, One will visit two Eastern Shore of Virginia locations in October 2025.
The museum will appear at:
- Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce Agricultural Fair on Saturday, October 4, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm behind the Machipongo School and Cultural Center, 7207 Young Street in Machipongo.
- Virginia Welcome Center at New Church from Monday, October 6 to Wednesday, October 8, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm each day. 3420 Lankford Highway in New Church.
Housed in a quad-expandable tractor trailer, the mobile museum is traveling across Virginia and beyond, bringing key stories of the Commonwealth’s history to schools, museums, local events, and fairs. The exhibits highlight every region of the state and feature local history, including information about Peter Jacob Carter (1845–1886) of Northampton County.
“It’s exciting to see the Eastern Shore included as a stop for this traveling exhibit,” said Megan Lawson, Director of Destination Development for the Eastern Shore of Virginia Tourism Commission. “This is a rare chance for our community to experience Virginia’s history in such an interactive way.”
Families are encouraged to visit the mobile museum free of charge and learn about the commemoration of our country’s 250th anniversary of independence from Colonial rule.
