Perdue Foods held their annual community luncheon Thursday at the Parksley Fire House.

Currently, the Accomac Plant for Perdue employs approximately 1,700 and wages for production workers range from $17.00 to $18.50 per hours.  Benefits added increases the value to $24.82.

Not only does Perdue provide local families with stable employment with benefits, the Perdue Foundation provided $450,000 last year to help fund the Food Bank, the Virginia Foundation for Ag in the Classroom, several local fire companies, the United Way of the Eastern shore, Places and Program for the Children, the Eastern Shore Coalition Against Domestic Violence,  the Eastern Shore Area on Aging,  the Boys and Girls Club, the Eastern Shore Literacy Council and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.

Perdue also donates thousands of pounds of chicken each year to help local organizations raise money for their support.

The Perdue Foundation presented a check for $25,000 to the Food Bank of Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore for their backpack program.  Another check for $30,000 was presented to the Eastern Shore of Virginia Housing Mission, an organization that builds ramps for qualifying homes.

Perdue Chief Executive Officer Kevin McAdams said that Perdue is in its second century as a family-owned business and the focus has never been sharper on Raising a Better Future. McAdams also said “We set ambitious goals not just because they are challenging but because we believe true success comes from honoring our promise – to support our people, protect the environment, and continue prioritizing our associates, customers, consumers and independent family farmers.  This dedication is the foundation for excellence.  Whether through environmental initiatives, improved animal care or deeper community engagement, every action we take is grounded in our belief that Perdue should be a force for good.”

The Accomack Plant HR Director Bel Holden said that Perdue is currently hiring for open positions in production and maintenance.
