Northampton County Public Schools has announced that Kiptopeke Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has earned the designation of National PTA School of Excellence for 2024-2026. The honor, awarded to just 330 schools and PTAs nationwide, recognizes organizations that build strong family-school partnerships and foster welcoming, inclusive environments.
In the award letter, National PTA President Yvonne Johnson commended the accomplishment, writing that the recognition reflects hard work in strengthening connections between families and the school while enhancing the educational experience for every child.
Kiptopeke’s PTA credited the achievement to a collaborative effort that has brought families, staff, and community partners together. The group highlighted its initiatives such as Turkey Bingo, food bank donations, and partnerships with local businesses like Cape Charles Hardees, where free kids’ meals and books have been distributed.
Principal Dr. Ron Yorko said the recognition is a point of pride for the entire school community. “This honor reflects the dedication of our parents, teachers, and community working together to support every child’s success,” he said. School officials offered congratulations and gratitude to the PTA for its commitment to making a positive impact on Kiptopeke students and families.
