Friday Accident Results in One Fatality and Four Injuries

The accident that shut down Lankford Highway south of Mappsville Friday afternoon resulted in one fatality and four injuries.  According to the Parksley Volunteer Fire Company Facebook page, Parksley, Atlantic, Bloxom, Wallops and Oak Hall Rescue resonded at 1:20 to an accident with entrapment south of Stuckyes on Rt.13.  The accident resulted in Rt, 13 being completely blocked for approximately 2 hours while State Police investigated.

Two of the victims were transported by ambulance to Riverside and two were transported by Trooper 6 of the Maryland State Police Trooper 6.

Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Friday (Nov. 28, 2025) at 2:07 p.m. on Route 13 in Accomack County.
A 2021 Nissan Versa was travelling northbound on Route 13, near the intersection with Gillespie Lane, when it crossed the median and struck a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado head-on.
The driver of the Versa died at the scene.
There were five people in the Chevrolet Silverado.  The driver and one passenger were air-lifted to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  The three other passengers were transported to area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
