AccuWeather forecasters say the 2025–26 winter season could bring an active and snowy stretch across much of our region. Early storms in December may track from the Midwest into the Northeast, with the potential to strengthen into powerful nor’easters along the East Coast.
Snowfall is expected to be higher than last winter in cities like Philadelphia, New York, and Baltimore, though totals may still come in below historical averages. Meteorologists caution that many mid- to late-winter systems could bring a mix of rain and snow, rather than just snow.
Energy bills may also rise, with forecasters predicting cold Arctic air blasts reaching much of the eastern U.S., including our area.
The prediction is: a stormy start, a midwinter break, and then a chilly, snowy finish. So, keep the coats, boots, and shovels handy.
