Chincoteague, VA — October 19, 2025 — The Eastern Shore Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ESCADV) hosted its first annual Masquerade Ball & Halloween Bash on Saturday evening, bringing together community members from across the Shore for a night of celebration, connection, and compassion.
Held at the Chincoteague Center, the event blended elegance and fun as guests arrived in creative costumes and ball gowns with ornate masquerade masks. The evening featured live music by The Southern Fog Band, a costume contest, an online auction of art donated by generous regional artists, a dinner prepared by Steamers, and ice cream donated by Island Creamery.
All proceeds from the event will directly support ESCADV’s vital programs for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, including emergency shelter, counseling, advocacy, and community education.
“This event reminds us that when our community comes together, hope grows stronger than fear,” said chief event organizer Evelyn Fischer, Fund Development Specialist for ESCADV. “Every ticket, every donation, every dance tonight helps us continue to provide safety and healing for survivors.”
The Southern Fog Band, who kept the crowd dancing late into the night, shared afterward on social media:
“We are so proud to have been a part of this fundraising event. The decor was superb, food was delicious, people were fun, and the energy was over the top good!”
The inaugural event drew more than 125 attendees and raised money to benefit survivors of sexual and domestic violence through essential programs such as emergency shelter, advocacy, and support groups.
ESCADV extends heartfelt thanks to its sponsors, volunteers, and guests for making the night such a big success — and for standing with survivors during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
