A Modest Town man was indicted Monday by an Accomack Grand Jury on 48 counts of possession of child pornography and a count of using a computer to solicit a minor for sex.
The defendant is 37-year-old Cameron O’Brien Shrieves, of Nelsonia Road. Defense lawyer Kenneth Singleton said at a bond hearing that there is no proof that his client ever met up with the alleged victims. “There was just a lot of talk,” the attorney continued.
The computer incident was alleged to have occurred on May 14. The possession indictments are alleged to have occurred July 23. Shrieves, who was initially charged with 11 counts of possession of child pornography, was arrested July 24.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Spencer Morgan called the offenses “very repugnant” and “there was a step to save it on” his phone. Morgan said the defendant told an investigator that he didn’t have a cell, but later handed it over. “This has been going on for a while,” Morgan added, the activity goes back at least a year, with attempts to meet up with children 14 and 15 years old.
Investigator Ethan Annis, of the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office, said a cyber tip was received on July 11 detailing a sexual conversation that Shrieves allegedly had with a 14-year-old boy on Snapchat.
