We begin with a weather alert for coastal communities along the lower Delmarva Peninsula.

The National Weather Service says a High Surf Advisory remains in effect through six o’clock Monday evening, and a Coastal Flood Warning is posted from eight a.m. Sunday until six a.m. Monday.

Forecasters say waves up to fifteen feet are expected in the surf zone, with floodwaters two to three feet above ground level possible in low-lying areas near the shore and tidal waterways.

That includes Worcester County in Maryland, and Accomack and Northampton Counties in Virginia.

Officials warn of moderate to major flooding, with roads and some neighborhoods likely to be cut off. Homes and businesses near the waterfront could see significant water damage, and some areas may need to evacuate.

High tide early Sunday afternoon is expected to bring the worst conditions, with flooding continuing into Monday morning.

Residents are urged to avoid flooded roadways and take steps now to protect property along the shore.

Would you like me to format it for a specific type of station — for example, public radio (NPR-style), commercial FM news, or an emergency radio bulletin? I can tailor the tone and pacing.
