ESCC to celebrate past students and employees

Eastern Shore Community College will host its Annual Homecoming Block Party on Friday, October 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. on the college’s Lankford Highway campus. The celebration, honoring former students and employees, is open to the public and promises an evening of music, food, and community spirit.

DJ Sleepy will set the atmosphere with hits spanning the decades since ESCC’s founding in the early 1970s, while a lineup of food trucks will provide dinner options. Phi Theta Kappa, the college’s honor society, will also be grilling hot dogs and holding a bake sale to help fund travel for upcoming events.

A highlight of the evening will be a special program featuring alumnus Kennis Austin, Class of 1986, who will pay tribute to the late Dr. Richard Jenkins, ESCC president from 1996 to 2006. Family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Jenkins are invited to attend and share memories of his many years of service to the college.

Guests can look forward to giveaways, ESCC gear, and the return of the Alumni Sound Booth, where participants can record their stories. One entry will be randomly selected to win a pair of tickets to the 2026 Oyster Roast, valued at more than $150. In addition, car enthusiasts are invited to “cruise in” with their custom cars and trucks for a chance to win crowd-voted prizes.
