Three county residents pleaded guilty Thursday in Accomack Circuit Court to possessing cocaine, a charge that carries a maximum term of 10 years in prison

Police were called to the home of 25-year-old Zachary Daniel Bundick, of Bobtown Road in Pungoteague, on Jan. 28, 2025. The homeowner complained that Bundick threatened people at the residence with an axe, hit the concrete steps with the weapon, and then threw a cinderblock and a rock at a window. He was found passed out in a shed. The drugs were found with him, according to a proffer of evidence.

He was treated as a first offender, with judgment being withheld for a year while he is on probation. He must remain drug and alcohol free during that period, while random drug screenings may be requested. He also must complete 100 hours of community service, pay all fines and court costs, and submit to a substance abuse evaluation.

“This is your chance to get things back on track,” said Judge Lynwood W. Lewis Jr. “It only gets worse from here if you don’t.”

In another case, 65-year-old Darrell Lee Wharton, of Lankford Highway in Accomac, was sentenced to five years with all but two years and four months suspended for possessing cocaine on Dec. 31, 2024. He was given six months to serve for violating probation to run consecutively with the first term. Wharton, who had an extensive felony record, will be on supervised probation for two years and good behavior for five years upon release.

Twenty-six-year-old Mikayla Elaine Lloyd, of Greenbackville, pleaded guilty to a Nov. 3, 2024 count of possessing cocaine and misdemeanor DUI.

An officer was in the Wattsville area when he saw a car with no registration on the front of the vehicle going through a parking lot and onto Fleming Road, according to testimony. The officer said the driver was going 80 miles an hour in a 55-mph zone. When Lloyd pulled over her speech was slow and slurred, and she admitted to drinking two 24-oz. cans of beer. The officer saw white powder in a plastic baggie when she opened her glove box. The substance was tested and found to be cocaine. She was also treated as a first offender for the cocaine.

Lloyd registered 1.168 grams per 210 liters of breath on a breathalyzer test. The legal limit is .08. She was found guilty of misdemeanor DUI. Her driver’s license was suspended for 12 months. She was sentenced to a 90-day suspended sentence. Lloyd was ordered to complete a Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program. She was fined $1,000, half of which will be suspended upon completion of the program. She will be on good behavior for five years.
