
A four-year-old girl died Saturday in Pocomoke City, and authorities continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Pocomoke City Police said the child was reported missing shortly after 11 a.m. in the area of Clarke Avenue and Laurel Street. She had been wearing pajamas and her hair was in a ponytail.
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office said the child was later found. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office County Bureau of Investigation took over the death investigation. Officials said no additional information was being released as the investigation continued.
A community vigil was scheduled for Sunday evening at 7 o’clock in Cypress Park. Pocomoke City Mayor Todd Nock extended his condolences to the child’s family, saying the entire community was grieving alongside them during this tragic time.
