EXMORE, VA —Litter isn’t pretty. It’s detracts from the natural beauty we value on the ESVA and is harmful to wildlife who attempt to eat it or become entangled. You—and your family and friends– can make a difference this weekend. Join the Town of Exmore, local volunteers and Waste Watchers of the Eastern Shore on Saturday, April 21, for an Exmore Town Clean Up event. It begins with a brief meeting and free coffee in the Exmore Town Park at 10:45 am. Waste Watchers and VDOT will supply safety vests, bags, zip ties, gloves and grabbers for all participants, but you are invited to bring your own if you prefer. Volunteers will also receive a complimentary reusable shopping bag.

The areas to be cleared of litter include all of Hadlock Road (T-1029), the stretch of road between TruBlue and the corner with McDonalds and Hardees; and Tower Way (T 687) from Route 13 west to Belle Haven Road. The event is being held in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Earth Day Festival taking place in the Exmore Town Park from 1 pm to 3 pm. The Earth Day Festival, which is free, features live music, food vendors, games, educational activities, tractor displays, Smokey the Bear (in person) and much more. It’s an opportunity to learn more about programs that enhance our communities while having fun. It’s also an occasion for children to interact with barnyard animals, courtesy of our local farmers.

Clean Up volunteers, and anyone else signing up as new Waste Watchers on Earth Day, and paying their $10 annual dues, will receive five dollars in “Waste Watchers Bucks” that can be redeemed at the food vendors participating in Earth Day festivities in the Exmore Town Park.
