Wendell Manley, born on October 29, 1964, to the late Leona and William Nathaniel Manley of Cape Charles, Virginia, was called home by God in His infinite wisdom in March 2025. He was the last of six siblings and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Wendell received his education in the Northampton County School System before embarking on a career that spanned various jobs. Known for his impeccable fashion sense, charismatic charm, and fondness for good company, he had a magnetic presence that brought joy to those around him. To know Wendell was to love him—his laughter was contagious, his spirit was uplifting, and his love for life was undeniable.
He was a devoted father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Leona Manley; his four brothers, William Manley, Ardell Manley, Larry Manley, and Samuel Manley; and his beloved sister, Mamie Powell.
Wendell’s memory will live on through his loving daughter, Lafrances Overton (Antonio) of Belvidere, NC; his treasured grandchildren, Gorgeous Overton, Beautifull Overton, and Kyngston Overton, all of Belvidere, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and dear friends.
Though Wendell’s physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit, love, and laughter will forever be imprinted in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Funeral services for Wendell Manley will be conducted Saturday at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church in Capeville, Va., with the Rev. Kelvin Jones officiating.
