Victor Ray Pruitt

Victor Ray Pruitt, 69, doting husband, loving father and grandfather, and loyal friend to all, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2020. Born February 20, 1950 in Nassawadox, VA and raised in Harborton, VA, he was a son of the late Wallace Ray Pruitt and Naomi Beauchamp Pruitt.

Victor was a third-generation co-owner of Pruitt Seafood. He was proud of his roots and remained an advocate for Eastern Shore watermen throughout his life, having served on the board of directors for the Eastern Shore Watermen’s Museum and Research Center. After more than 30 years buying and selling seafood in Washington DC, Victor started a new business venture closer to home, Eastern Shore Mini Storage. He was a 32-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, an achievement he held in high regard and a member of Onancock Baptist Church. Victor loved a landscaped yard and spent countless hours perfecting his home and mini storage properties. He was a talented woodworker and built many of the pieces in the family home.

Victor, or as he preferred “Big Daddy” or “Pop Pop,” adored his family and stopped at nothing to bring a smile to their faces. With a personality that perfectly matched his fiery red hair, there was never a dull moment when in his presence and you could guarantee he’d tell you exactly what was on his mind. Debbie was the perfect balance for Victor, and there were few times you’d see one without the other. May he be remembered just the way he’d want – always with smile, an opinion, and a heart full of love.

In addition to his beloved wife of 45 years, Deborah Bull “Debbie” Pruitt, he is survived by three children, Karen Fowler and husband Shane of Parksley, Travis Pruitt and Danielle Martin of Onancock, and Shannon Boggs and husband Matt of Pungoteague; two brothers, and was especially close to his brother, Jeffrey Pruitt of Pungoteague; eight grandchildren, Owen and Emma Fowler, Justin Martin, Cameron and Hunter Pruitt, and Raelynn, Laycen, and Sawyer Boggs; and several nieces and nephews.
