It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Teresa J. Parks on February 20, 2026. Teresa was born March 10, 1949, and passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with bulbar ALS, surrounded by the love of her family. Though the disease quickly took her physical strength and voice, it never diminished her spirit, quiet courage, grace, or the deep love she carried for those closest to her.

Teresa was a beautiful soul who would help anyone. Her radiant smile lit up every room she entered. She enjoyed music, dancing, working in her yard, crossword puzzles, and watching game shows. She lived life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved cats.

Teresa was a loving mother, grandmother, and partner. Her daughters, Kelly Parks Merritt (Rodney Merritt) and Laurie Parks Harmon (Chris Harmon), were the center of her world and her proudest accomplishments. She poured her heart into her family with unconditional love.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren: Christopher “Morgan” Harmon, Logan Kelly Harmon, and Levin Grayson Merritt. They brought light to her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. The love she had for them was immeasurable.

Teresa spent 46 cherished years with her partner, Jimmy C. Taylor, sharing a steadfast love and an enduring bond. She is also survived by her brother, Dana Justis of Kentucky, and her half-sisters, Jo Anne Hamlett and Jennifer Bell.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Teresa’s lifelong friend, Sandy Hart Mears, for her devoted care and support, and to Leslie Watson and Anita Clayton for their compassion and assistance throughout her illness.

A celebration of Teresa’s life will be held at Thornton’s Funeral Home in Parksley on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Teresa’s love remains woven into the hearts of her family, and her legacy will live on through them. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered by all who knew her.

Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
