Stanley Young

Mr. Elwood Stanley Young, 81, of Hallwood, VA, passed away on August 15, 2024 at his residence surrounded by those who loved him.

Born on December 18, 1942 in Hallwood, VA, he was the son of the late Elwood Driscoll Young and Elizabeth Jackson Young. Stanley worked several jobs over the years, but he was known for taking over Young’s General Store and Garage for his father. Later, he opened it as the Other Side Poolhall where many people of the Eastern Shore made many fond memories throughout the years. In more recent years, his store was known as Stanley Young’s Hallwood. If you couldn’t get it at his shop, you didn’t need it. Most importantly, he was known for his heart of gold and he would help anyone in need. His passions in life were his store, duck hunting and his beloved grandchildren, who meant more to him than anything in this world.

Stanley is survived by his daughters, Lynier Linton and her husband, Mark of Ocean Pines, MD and Traci Young of Crisfield, MD; a step-son, Edward Allen Furniss of Melfa, VA; three grandchildren, Vaden Linton, Daylen Linton and Delaney Linton of Ocean Pines, MD; a special niece Kimberly Donnelly and her husband, Jimmie of Bloxom, VA; two great-nephews, Brandon Donnelly of Gulfport, MS and Dylan Donnelly of Bloxom, VA; his special friend and “brother” William “Billy” Smith and his wife Leilani of Hallwood, VA; and several very special friends.

He was proceeded in death by his beloved brother, Jimmie Young of Hallwood, VA.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the John W. Taylor Cemetery in Termperanceville, VA.
