Nathan James Godwin, 53, of New Church, passed away on July 26, 2023 at his residence.
Born on February 5, 1970 in Nassawadox, he was the son of Raymond E. “Bozo” Godwin Sr. and Barbara J. Taylor Godwin. Nathan graduated from Arcadia High School in 1988. He was an accomplished Captain and waterman, always working hard at the job he loved. Known for his caring, giving, joyful personality, Nathan was often the life of the party. He could talk to anyone and never met a stranger. He loved his job, loved sociallizing and loved life.
Other than his parents, Nathan is survived by two sons, Zackary Godwin and wife, Kinsley of Hawaii, and Gage Godwin of Assawoman; a sister, Joanna “Josie” G. Williams; nephews, Tyler Williams, Brock Williams and Dustin Godwin; and a niece, Danielle Godwin.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Godwin, Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 30th at 2:00 PM at Creek Point in Saxis
