
Alma Davis Brim was born on November 14, 1950 in Atlantic, Virginia to the late Elsie Davis. She departed this life on July 23, 2024 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland.
Alma was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a 1970 graduate of Mary N. Smith High School. Upon graduation, she enrolled at Eastern Shore Community College, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in 1972. In 1974, Alma earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Maryland State College, now University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She earned her Master’s Degree from Old Dominion University in 1983.
Alma began her career with Accomack County Public Schools and dedicated thirty-eight years of service. She was a teacher at Central High School and Chincoteague High School. In later years, she became the principal of Arcadia High School. Alma was the first African American female principal since desegregation. Her last position with the county was as a Transitional Specialist at the Central Office. She dedicated her life to nurturing generations of youth in Accomack County.
At the tender age of eight, Alma she joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Atlantic, Virginia, where she was an active member. She served as the church musician and a Trustee. She gave of her talents where ever her hands were needed. In later years, Alma joined Gospel Temple Baptist Church in Keller, Virginia. There she was the church musician, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the choir. She also served the congregation at First Baptist Church in Mappsville, Virginia as the musician for the Senior Choir. In most recent years, she attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in Horntown, Virginia until her health began to fail. Providing music for congregations up and down the Shore was truly her passion. Alma was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Alma leaves to cherish loving memories her brothers, Thomas Davis and Gralyn (Rachel) Hinmon; sister, Thelma Holden; stepdaughter, Felicia Brim; goddaughter, Sherry Carey; close friends, Bertha Wilson and Carrie Marie Dennis; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Brim, also known as “Snookie” of Atlantic, will be conducted on Saturday at 11AM from Tabernacle Baptist Church, Horntown, with Rev. James Rich officiating. Interment WB in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Atlantic. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2-3 at the funeral home.
