Michael Donald Teets, cherished son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at his home. Born May 26, 1977 in Uniontown, PA, he was the son of Catherine Louise Conard Teets of Carlsbad, NM and the late Glenn C. Teets.

Michael was a graduate of Ringgold High School, in Monogahela, PA, and received his bachelor’s degree from Alderson Broaddus in Philippi, WV. During college he was active in “The West Virginians” singing group and was president of Phi Delta Sigma Fraternity. In his 43 years of life, Michael impacted the lives of countless people of all ages. As an educator for Accomack County Public Schools, he was adored by his students, as well as his colleagues. His musical talents were limitless, a gift he selflessly shared with local schools and churches, The North Street Playhouse, and a myriad of special events throughout the Eastern Shore. Always striving to better himself, Michael recently received his master’s degree from the University of Virginia, all the while continuing to teach, lend his musical genius to all who asked, and work part time at Maurice. Whether you called him Michael or Mr. Teets, he would want everyone to celebrate his life through appreciating the importance of music and kindness to others.

In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by his brothers, Glenn C. Teets II and his wife, Jenny, of Fairbanks, AK, Timothy Teets and girlfriend, Kristy Muelhman, of Finleyville, PA; aunts, Cathy Virginia Nedrow and her husband, Bill, and Ruth Marie Kelly and her husband, Ray, of Rockwood, PA; great-aunts, Helen Trotta of Carlsbad, NM and Isabelle Miller of Monongahela, PA; cousins, Naomi Nedrow, Sarah Nedrow Rogers, and Adam and Cameron Kelly, as well as many other extended family members; and a wealth of friends who thought of him as family. Other than his father, Michael was predeceased by his brother, Johnathan Edward Teets; grandparents, Hampton and Gladys Teets and Earl and Mary Conard; and aunt, Connie Katz.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at Wachapreague Seaside Park (corner of Main Street & Atlantic Avenue in Wachapreague, VA) on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
