
Martin Vann Carver, 92, passed away at home with family in Fruitland, MD on October 2nd,
2025. Born on August 18th, 1933 in Boynton Beach, Florida, he was the son of the late Richard
and Frances Carver.
After a year of College, Martin joined the Marines in 1953. He served until 1957 as an aircraft
electronics technician and was deployed overseas for over one year. After leaving the military,
Martin married and moved to Atlantic, Virginia on the Delmarva peninsula. He worked for the
US Coast and Geodetic Survey and later for NOAA at the Wallops Command and Data
Acquisition Station.
Martin was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Chincoteague, a Hunter
Safety Instructor, and a winemaker. He was also a fisherman, a packrat, a jokester, and a man
of prayer who did many charitable works. He spent his last years staying with his daughter and
her family, and was a loving role model for his four grandchildren as they grew up.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on October 20th at his Maryland church, St. Francis de
Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury, with visitation starting at 10 and a reception to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Maryland or Virginia Eastern Shore Foodbanks.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Martin (Teresa) Carver, Loreen Aman Mayers,
son-in-law David Stuchlik, grandchildren Sarah, Allison, Logan, and Ian, and multiple nieces and
nephews. He is also survived by one precious great-grandchild, Daisie Stuchlik.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Lynn Stuchlik,
and brothers, Richard, Douglas, and Harry.
