Carlton Clayton Jr., 71, of Parksley, Virginia, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, February 18, 2025, at his residence, Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Virginia. He was born on June 27, 1953, in Virginia to the late Carlton Clayton, Sr. and Georgia Clayton Scarborough.

Carlton was educated in the public schools of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corp in which he was medically discharged. After he left the military, he worked as a security guard until he was injured. Prior to his injury, he enjoyed staying physically fit by working out and playing basketball and football. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and making people laugh. Carlton was not a fan of television, but enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, and one of his famous sayings was “I Won’t Complain”. He always asked about his family and was always happy with a big smile on his face that would light up any room he was in at the time.

Carlton was preceded in death by parents, Carlton Clayton, Sr. and Georgia Clayton Scarborough; one son, Reginald Lamont Lucas; one brother, John Lewis Clayton; and one sister, Virgie Gorham.

Precious memories and love will forever linger in the hearts of his two children, Jerome Lucas and Carol Lucas, both of Philadelphia, PA; seven brothers, Elwood (Gail) Handy of Philadelphia, PA, Randolph Clayton, Preston Clayton, both of Federalsburg, MD, Marvin Clayton of New Church, VA, Marshall Clayton of Brandywine, MD, Tyrone Clayton of Blades, DE, Norman Clayton of Laurel, DE, and Alan (Malissa) Clayton of Washington, DC; four sisters, Addie B. Handy of Parksley, VA, Georgia Mae Clayton of Laurel, DE, Mary (Dennis) Davis of Bloxom, VA, and Oletha Clayton of New Church, VA; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandson; Valerie, a special friend with whom he had three beautiful children with; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a countless circle of other relatives and friends. Carl-ton will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be conducted  Saturday at 1PM from  Macedonia Baptist Church, Bloxom, with Rev. Tamela Wise officiating.  Interment  will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2-3 at the funeral home.
