Mr. Miles Bruce Waldron II, 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, in Wheeling, Illinois.

Born at Fort Dix, New Jersey, Miles, or “Champ” as he was known by many on the Shore, was the son of the late Miles Bruce and wife Mary Jane Waldron.

Following the death of his father in Phoenix, Arizona, the family moved back to his mother’s childhood home of Tangier Island, and then to Onancock, where he spent his youth enjoying life on the Eastern Shore and the Chesapeake Bay.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman and a K9 Trainer & Handler, serving tours at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and the Republic of South Korea.

Following his military service, Miles worked in various occupations, such as the seafood industry on the Shore, as well as in home remediation services in Wheeling, Illinois.  In the early 1990’s he found his work passion in the long-haul trucking industry, in which he worked until his retirement in 2021.

Miles, was larger than life with a personality to match.

A loving husband, father, and friend, he was an avid fisherman and lover of lakes, streams, rivers, and oceans. He had a love and respect for life that could only be matched by his infectious and hearty laugh. He was blessed with the gift of encouragement and optimism.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl Ann Waldron, residing in Wheeling, Illinois; and grown children Ashley Kendzierski, and son, Christopher, both of Chicago, Illinois; and son Jeremy Kellam, of Aylett, Virginia.  He is also survived by his brother, Mark Waldron, of Athens, Georgia.

A “Celebration of Life” service for Mr. Miles B. Waldron II, formerly of Onancock, will be conducted Saturday, November 23, at 2:00 p.m. in the old sanctuary of Onancock Baptist Church, on Market Street, with Pastor Andy Cobb officiating.
