John Wesley Runion, 64, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025 at his home in Mears, VA. Born August 3, 1960 Lakewood, NJ and raised in Lakehurst, NJ, he was the son of Harriet Marie Runion of Nelsonia, VA and the late Elsworth Runion, Sr.
Like most Eastern Shoremen, John spent as much time as possible outdoors. He especially enjoyed exploring the backroads on his scooter or taking long bike rides. He was a skilled auto mechanic, whose talents were known by many throughout his lifelong career.
In addition to his mother, John is survived by his daughter, Jessica; sisters, Harriet and Susan; brother-in-law, Gary; granddaughter, Brooke; special nephew, Shane, as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families. Other than his father, he was predeceased by his brothers, Elsworth “Butch” Runion, Jr. and Jimmy Runion and sister, Patricia Ann Henderson.
The family invites friends to join them for a gathering in celebration of his life at the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
